Mermaid - a case study

Mermaid - a case study is a document explaining the restoration by us in Victoria Park of the weathervane on the Burdett-Coutts Memorial Drinking Fountain. Initially the main contractor was insisting we should cut a cockerel out of sheet steel and stick it up there. The features of scallop shells, dolphins and other water themes plus the quality of the materials used by the Victorians meant it would never be a cockerel cut from sheet but they wanted to not spend any money on the restoration.

Thankfully Tower Hamlets insisted the work be done properly.
